SLAC003 GINTIS
SUPERSOAKERS & MEGADRIVES BROKE THESE LIL' HEARTS (EP)
RELEASED: 29th SEPTEMBER 2004
RECORDED: Imperial Buildings (MASE), Llandudno
PRODUCED BY: Steve Swindon
This, the Gintis debut, was fastened together in an abandoned nightclub of yesteryear in the town of Llandudno. The EP features the definitive versions of their heavily radio played demos.
Layered with distinctive synths, rattling low-bit, intriguing yet simple guitar riffs, tall and ever-growing distortion pieces and sung with the signature voice of Carl Gintis. Encapsulating the highs and lows of teenage angst, in as casual a way as possible.
A band which formed before the ability to play a musical instrument was required; simply from ideas and a love of music they recruited from around the schoolyard.
"Many great bands formed at school, and Gintis might just be another. Hailing from Rhyl, the youthful quintet specialise in delicately crafted lo-fi grace - think Grandaddy or Pavement, with a laid back tint that's already attracted many admirers" - BBC Wales
"It's different, it's diverse to the point where even Gorky's Zygotic Mynci would throw the towel in & say, 'Hey lads, please take our pedestal'. Gintis are like laboratory rats fed on a cocktail of psychedelic drugs who have escaped to set up a commune in a nuclear power station" - Link2Wales
'The world’s finest example of 'spazchedelia' - invite it into your ears and your hearts’
-
Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
