RELEASED: 30th AUGUST 2004
RECORDED: Blaen-Y-Cae Studio, Garndolbenmaen
PRODUCED BY: Pep Le Pew
Here lies the bands second album, "Un Tro Yn Y Gorllewin" (Once Upon A Time In The West). A record which begins with a rolling-tumbleweed lone harmonica, setting a spaghetti western mood for the record.
A whole range of influences can be picked out throughout, and often snapped together in the music; from the mariachi sounds of Calexico, the electro side of Super Furry Animals, the liver-than-live rhythms of Roots, the bluesy slide guitars from anywhere in the US deep south, to out and out telecaster rock coupled with lock-n-load rhymes delivered like rapid gunfire from Aron Elias. Droppig lyrics on topics such as war, up-bringing, language issues, drugs, and respect to your fellow man. This is original music with refreshing content.
A darker more pointed (sharper) album this time out, always sounding like themselves but with new twists, it'll overwhelm you, but not overpower you. Pausing for breath with some chilled and light-hearted moments along it's three quarters of an hour length.
"In my opinion, it is just a travesty, and an insult for a band like Pep Le Pew to go largely unnoticed by the mainstream, just seems like a crime"
